John W. Burton

Deacon John W. Burton was born December 21, 1933 in Waelder, Texas to the late Mr. & Mrs. Square Burton, Sr. he accepted Christ at an early age. When he moved to San Antonio, Texas he joined East Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. L.J. Nious and served faithfully. After the death of Rev. L.J. Nious, Rev. Charles Nious was called. He served faithfully until his health failed. He was married to Sister Gladys King Burton for 59 years. He loved to sit and remember his family. How the times were. As he was growing up and his work history. He retired from the Marriott Hotel over 20 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 59 years Sister Gladys King Burton, 23 sisters and brothers 15 proceeded him in death, and a host of family and friends.
