Janice Jefferson

janice jefferson
We all have a life story. The beautiful story of Janice Holden Jefferson was one full of adventure, love, accomplishments, strength, loving family and friends, and so much more. Each chapter full of excitement, dedication, family, friends, hard work, and smiles. Janice was a beautiful, loving, kind, compassionate, generous, faithful servant of Christ. Janice was very generous and always helping family, friends and even strangers. She never hesitated to help anyone physically, spiritually or financially. She was a cheerful giver never expecting anything in return. Janice’s favorite saying was, “To God Be the Glory.” Her life was one she took time to thank and praise God for. December 5th, 1957, parents Joseph and Dorris Holden released into the world, Janice. Janice was born in Dallas TX. Her father was a pastor in Bedford, TX. At a young age, the Holden family relocated to Georgetown, TX and were faithful servants of St. Paul AME Church. Janice later joined Order of Eastern Star. Janice attended Public Schools and participated in Girl Scouts, band, and was on the High School basketball team. Upon graduation, she attended Central Texas College to pursue her dream of obtaining a degree in Nursing. Janice received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and her Master’s Degree with a 4.0 from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a member of Signa Beta Tau. Janice’s joyfully dedicated 45 years to her Nursing career; 40 years was spent working in the Neonatal Unit at Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, TX as the RN Charge Nursing Supervisor. Janice joined New Creation Christian Fellowship in 1990 under the leadership of Bishop David R. Copeland and Pastor Paulette Copeland, where she served faithfully as an Usher and trained two of her three heartbeats to be Jr. Ushers alongside them. She loved all three of her grandchildren, they were her heart and joy and she was theirs. They are really going to miss their Nana. Loved ones who cleared the path for Janice were grandparents: Pete and Odessa Zamora, parents: Joseph and Dorris Holden and brother: Joseph Holden, Jr. On December 6th, 2021, Janice’s beautiful story completed physically on Earth and she gained her wings and transitioned to Heaven. Janice’s book is now complete and she has an amazing legacy she leaves behind to continue as a testament to her life. Loved ones she leaves behind who will miss her until they meet again are her first heartbeat and son, Derek Antoine Little (Erica), her three grand-heartbeats Jaziah Little, Isaiah Little and Derek Little, Jr. Also left with loving memories of Janice are sisters, Dorris Ross (Hutto TX), Brenda Miller (Georgetown, TX), Odessa Hardwick (San Antonio, TX) and Jennifer Harris (Georgetown, TX). Janice also leaves behind a host of family and friends. Though the story of her life is complete, there is no ending. Janice planted well into loved ones who will carry on her memories, spirit and love and share those with the world as Janice did during her lifetime. As Janice would say “To God Be the Glory. Praise God. I am glad I could help!”

  1. I had the honor of having Janice in my life for over 30 years. We worked together and I have never known another person that was so loving, compassionate, and faithful. She was generous to a fault. My condolences to the family. I have so many fond memories of the years we had as good friends and I will miss her. In Janice’s own word…To God be the glory.. RIP sweet soul.
