James Wesley Bell Sr., age 86, passed peacefully from this life the morning of January 24th. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family during the last days of
his life. James was born in Bryan, TX on April 10, 1935. He graduated from Kemp High School in his hometown. This is also where he met his late wife, Luella Marie Myers
Bell, and shared 66 wonderful years in matrimony. James was a well known basketball athlete in high school, and later attended St. Philip’s College. He was in a quartet
group for many years; he had a great passion for helping others, fixing cars and bicycles, and for renovating houses. James worked for the City of San Antonio, Texas
and VIA for many years. He taught himself to speak Spanish so that he could communicate with bus riders. James was a stranger to no one.
He was a positive influence in the Dellcrest Community, and an active member in the Lakewood Drive Community Club. Most importantly James was a devoted and loving husband, grandfather, great grandfather. He and his wife raised three daughters and two sons in beautiful San Antonio, TX where he lived the remainder of his days.
James is survived by his sister: Eleveia Gant; five children, Marilyn D. Bell White (William “Spike” White), James W. Bell Jr., Sharon Y. Bell-Moses (Fred J. Moses), Steve O.
Bell, II Naomi Bell), Stacy J. Bell (Roxane Quinones); twelve grandchildren, Brandon J. White; Christina Y. Summers, Tiffany Marie Marquez (their late mother- Maritza
Marquez), and Jamee P. Bell – (her mother Tracy P. Mitchell); Steve O. Bell II, Nicholas Bell and Marcus Bell, Brittni Williams, Lauren M. Bell and Briana Bell, Elliott J. Moses and Jazzmyn Moses, Kourtney Bell and Kimmora Bell, and twelve great grandchildren, MaKayla Marie, Layliani M. and Naiyeli M. Isaac Marquez; Kyra, Serenity and Leia Bell,; Mekhi, Messiah, Jamari, and Malik Bell; Kanan and Kaleb Williams.
