June 18, 1946 ~ October 9, 2024

Born in: Akron, Ohio
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Shirley Ann Rechkemmer of San Antonio passed away on October 9, 2024. She was born in Akron, OH on June 18, 1946 to Russell and Juanita Schultheis and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Schultheis. She is survived by her husband, David, of 60 wonderful years, and by their children, their spouses and grandchildren: Mark and Rebecca Rechkemmer, grandchildren Alexis and Luke of Cary, NC; Kevin Rechkemmer and Kathy Rombola, grandchildren Tony Rombola, wife Katie son Anthony and Ariana Rechkemmer of Horsham, PA; David II and Julie Rechkemmer, grandchildren Ryan and Austin of San Antonio; and Shawn and Chong Rechkemmer, grandchildren Rachel and Joshua of San Antonio. She is also survived by a sister, Marilyn Humphreys of Sarasota, FL.

Shirley’s family was all important to her and she excelled as a mother, grandmother, friend, confidant, homemaker, and anything else that she put her mind to. She was a most outgoing person who instantly struck up conversation with most anyone, known or unknown. Always with a smile on her face, she was a very giving person. She certainly was a well traveled person, having been an Air Force wife and moving around the world on 13 different assignments, 2 foreign and the others domestic. She absolutely loved pets and birds, squirrels and all outdoor critters. Her pets, all dogs, were certainly her favorites. In lieu of flowers, any donation can be made to the San Antonio Humane Society.

  2. Dave, please accept our condolences in the passing of Shirley . We met through Cindy Lapp and knew they were best of friends for many years. Cindy certainly talked of Shirley many times and had so many memories of their childhood. Sympathy to your entire family. From Tom and Marann Lapp (Canton,Ohio) Dave Lapp’s brother and sister-in-law

  3. CandleImageAlways will be remmebered in my heart.
    Beautiful and lovely mind.
Thank you for the love you gave me!

  4. CandleImageVisiting Shirley and Dave during our visits to see our own parents in San Antonio was certainly a highlight. As pristine and magazine beautiful as her home was, she welcomed every single dog during those visits every single time. And we had a huge pack to be sure! We are so grateful to have known this magnificent lady.

  5. CandleImageDave and family, I’m sorry for your loss, Shirley. I remember her; she was so sweet and made beautiful, huge wedding flowers and maid of honor bouquets for my first wedding in 1995. She was always friendly and smiling to me. I miss her so much. I know my Grandma (Mareth) Longwell and Shirley were very close cousins.
