In Loving Memory of Socorro M. Cedillo
July 4, 1945 – December 1, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Socorro M. Cedillo, beloved wife, devoted mother, and a source of boundless love and laughter. Born on July 4, 1945, Socorro lived a life that radiated warmth, joy, and strength. Socorro’s family was her greatest passion. She dedicated herself to her children with unwavering love, nurturing them with her kindness, wisdom, and a wicked sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest days. Her humor was her trademark—a reflection of her sharp mind and vibrant spirit, always leaving smiles and laughter in her wake.  Her love of life was centered around her family, and her children were her pride and joy. She cherished every moment spent with them, from simple everyday joys to celebrating life’s milestones.

Socorro will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Refugio “Cuco” Cedillo, her sister, Simona “Mona” Gonzaba, her surviving children, Juan Garcia, John  Malacara and wife Priscilla, Refugio Cedillo, Jr., Leonor Quezada and husband, Octavio, Enrique M. Cedillo, and Carlos M. Cedillo, 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grand children, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Socorro was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Morin, father, Benito D. Maciel, brothers, Refugio Maciel, Benito Maciel, Jr., Martin Maciel, sisters, Guadalupe Maciel, Rafaella Maciel, and her daughters, Isabel Cortez and Beatrice Lozano, whom she loved dearly and kept close to her heart for the remainder her life. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with them.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated caregivers- Missy, Nena, Tina and Yvette —whose compassion and love provided comfort and support during her final days.

A funeral service to honor Socorro’s life will be held at 10am, Monday, December 16, 2024 at MeadowLawn Funeral Home. All who knew and loved her are welcome to join us as we celebrate her life.
