Winifred E. Houston, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on September 9, 1951, in Austin, Texas, Winifred was the daughter of the late Edith Helen Reed and Charles Simpkins.

Throughout her life, Winifred was known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She dedicated 27 years to her work as an administrator with Texas Workforce Commission, where she retired. Her exceptional compassionate nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Winifred was a cherished mother and grandmother, always putting the needs of her loved ones first and offering a steady presence in their lives. Her love and care extended beyond her immediate family, and she touched the hearts of many friends throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her dedication to family, her joyful spirit, and the loving bonds she created with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Winifred’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness.

She is survived by her children, Sherry Walker, Candice Houston. Grandchildren Terrell, Darius, O’siris and Isis. Her sisters Bertha, Ramona, Charlesetta, Valerie, Harriett, Raenell, Claudine and many living relatives and dear friends. A private family celebration will be held to honor her life.
