The Lord’s radiant flower, Rose K. Washington, was called home to be with Him on April 15, 2025. Rose was born May 8, 1948, in San Antonio, TX, to Raphael Killebrew Sr. and Charles Etta Rose. She was the oldest of the 3 children (Roderick Killebrew and Raphael Killebrew Jr.). Rose grew up in San Antonio, TX, where she attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School from first to eighth grade. She attended Edgar Allen Poe Middle School for 9th grade. Rose graduated from Brackenridge High School with honors in 1967. She went to Texas Southern University in Houston, TX, for a year and came back to San Antonio to attend and graduate from the St. Phillip’s College License Vocational Nursing School program.

Rose became an LVN at the Downtown Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. She later pursued a career as a School Nurse in the San Antonio Independent School District. Toward the latter part of her career, she became an S.A.I.S.D. Paraprofessional for Special Needs Children. Rose retired from S.A.I.S.D. in 2006.

The Lord gave Rose the Spiritual Gifts of Service and Giving. She used those gifts as an active member of Maranatha Bible Church by decorating the multiple women’s and men’s restrooms to coordinate with the various holiday seasons and temperate seasons. Rose sponsored many
children in Uganda for 14 years. She was also part of the Prison Letter Writing Ministry. Rose was a generous giver to family, friends, and those in need whether it was her time or monetary gifts. Whenever she served, she served meticulously giving her best and being conscientious of how she presented her work to make sure everything was done with quality. Rose served her family well making sure all needs were met from sewing clothes for her children, helping with homework, supporting her husband’s coaching events, and being creative in keeping her family united and well-supported.

Rose accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 6 years old.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Charles Etta Rose Killebrew, her father, Raphael Killebrew Sr., and her brothers, Roderick Killebrew and Raphael Killebrew Jr.

Rose leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Paul Washington, their two children, Erika Mason and Ryan Washington, her grandchildren, Ty Washington, Morgan Mason, and Brooke Mason, and her dearly beloved family and friends.
