Virginia Wiatrek Kotara

Virginia Rose (Wiatrek) Kotara departed this world for Heaven on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the age of 69, at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Virginia was born and raised in San Antonio, TX on July 15, 1956, to her loving parents Ben and Clara Wiatrek of Kosciusko.

Affectionately known to many as Bird, Virginia was a shining light in lives of all those who loved her. Virginia’s greatest joys and achievements was her large close-knit Polish family to include her parents and six adored siblings. Virginia enjoyed most of her days with her loving husband of forty-nine years, Richard, and her daughter Kimberly. Richard and Virginia were married on August 7, 1976. They built a beautiful life raising their daughter in their first home in Dellcrest. Later they found their dream home in China Grove, Texas surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors. Virginia recently retired after forty-six years of working as an accountant with her sisters at Eanes Insurance Agency.

During her time off Virginia spent all her time devoted to her family and friends. Richard and Virgina would enjoy trips to the coast, weekends at the lake, car shows, dances, and picnics. She enjoyed road trips to Louisiana with her mother, sisters, and daughter. Her greatest passions were backyard gatherings, listening to classic country music, and dancing at every opportunity. She also had a profound love for all her animals. Her kitchen was often a gathering place to enjoy home cooking and a classroom for upcoming holiday celebrations. She loved passing the recipes of her beloved mother Clara to her daughter, nieces, and cousins. Virginia embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. Her passing will leave a tremendous hole in the hearts of her loved ones. When her soul left this earth, we know she is now dancing with Our Lord and wrapped in the arms of all our dearly departed loved ones. She would say to us “Cry a few tears and say a prayer to mourn my death. Then eat a good meal, have a few drinks, and dance to celebrate my life. Remember me with joy and love, for I am dancing with my Maker”.

Virginia is reunited in Heaven with her parents Ben and Clara, father-in-law Cleo, brothers Danny and Adrian, sister Annette; brother-in-law Edward Eanes, sisters-in-law Barbara Wiatrek and Carolyn Hoffman, nephews Travis Wiatrek and Bradley Vistuba, and grandchild Baby Avery.

Virgina is survived by her loving husband Richard and daughter Kimberly Kotara, mother- in- law Annie Kotara, siblings Evelyn, Elvan (Sherry), and Norman, brothers-in-law Robert (Christine), Butch, Gary, and Joe, sisters-in-law Betty and Mary, nephews and nieces Keith, A.J., Stacey, Melissa, B.J. (Courtney), Cody, Tyler (Karrie), Matthew, Tammy, Steve (Tricia), Laurie, Jennifer, Nisha (Patrick), Jennifer, Candie; Great nephews and nieces, Seth, Kaylie, Kenzie, Whitley, Alexis, Zayden, Katelyn, Kinley, Emeree, Kason, Matty, Natalie, Maevyn, Davis, Jacob, Ryan (Monique), Trey, Camryn, Katie, Cayden, Carolyn Grace, Willow and Lillie Anne. Bonus children, Denise (Chris), Casey, Caitlyn, Kayliegh, and Ellis.
