Mary J. Kaufman, lovingly known as Jeannie, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on December 17, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on September 13, 1951, in Cleveland, Texas, Jeannie’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and resilience.
Jeannie dedicated many years to her career at Southwestern Bell. Eventually, she fulfilled her dream of opening Sir-Vesa’s Cantina, a beloved bar that became a cherished gathering place for friends and family alike.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lila Faye Norris; her sister, Joan Moody; and her husband, David Narvaiz. Jeannie is survived by her son, Eddie Kaufman, and his spouse, Danielle Schneider; her daughter, Stephanie Canales, and her spouse, Armando Canales; and her son, David Murphy Narvaiz Jr., and his spouse, Andrew Murphy. A proud grandmother, she leaves behind Edward “Tony” Kaufman, Jacob Garcia, Meeyah Canales, and Maddison Canales. Jeannie also cherished her nieces and their families, Heather Vrana (Luke), Monica Peart (Roger), and Kristin Mount, along with numerous great-nephews Ethan, Wyatt, Brady, Jacob, Caleb, and Logan and a myriad of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jeannies passions included trips to the casino, summer vacations with family, and her favorite movie, Urban Cowboy.A true fighter, she faced her battle with cancer with remarkable strength, always relishing the moments spent with her adored grandchildren and family.
