Tina Mae Key
July 22, 1960 ~ January 4, 2026
Born in:
Denver, Colorado
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Tina Mae (Green) Key was born July 22, 1960 in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Venus Green. She very quickly settled into her role as a cowgirl, loving horses and almost all animals.
She loved her family and friends fiercely, but she hated ‘Liars, cheaters and thieves’.
In middle school, she moved next door to the boy who would become the ‘love of her life’ and the best dad for her girls!
She was independent, intelligent and more beautiful than she could ever comprehend. Her smile could light up the whole room, but watch out if you pissed her off!
As a self-employed woman in Real Estate, she was self motivated and knew how to get shit done. She grew to have a comfortable lifestyle, but there were tough times too. She got an evening job at the racetrack when she needed to fill in the gaps. She also enjoyed spending time with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse and rode with them as they performed grand entry at rodeos, welcomed senators & the Dallas cowboys at special events, carried flags through San Antonio’s Battle of Flowers parade, and provided security at organized events as needed.
Tina treated you like family.PERIOD. She could easily tell if you were worth the effort. In the 90s, she was so busy being a workaholic mom and wife, she hired a family to help clean her home. That family would become lifelong friends that she helped sponsor for legal permanent residency.
She liked the comforts of home, but also enjoyed the thrills of an adventure. For example, despite knowing little Spanish, she once jumped at the opportunity to travel to Mexico by bus with one of her best friends for a couple weeks.
She and her family enjoyed many trips to the beach in Corpus or Florida…to the mountains in Colorado…the plains in Oklahoma…sunny California and tropical locations like Puerto Vallarta, Bahamas and Cozumel. There were miles and miles of trail rides with her Dad and daughter, road trips with her husband and grandkids…making an abundance of cherished memories throughout the years.
Tina loved her parents, Robert and Venus, and her brother, Rob. She dearly loved her husband, Larry, and her daughters Summer and Brittany and her fiance Becca. She was welcoming to her kids’ friends as well, becoming more of a mother to them than their own parents. But her favorite daughter was Valentine, her horse! Running a close second to Valentine, were her grandkids Olivia (23), Willow (14) and Madelynne (7). She absolutely LOVED being a grandma…or ‘greyma’ as Oh-Yi-Yah called her. She adored her grandkids and they adored her…they threw screaming fits when trying to leave after staying several nights in a row already. Then she’d convince everyone that ‘one more night’ would be ok.
If you knew her, you LOVED her unless you were an asshole.
She made the world a better, more bearable place.
She was called home on Sunday;January 4, 2026 to join her Father Robert and granddaughter CoraLynne in Heaven. The world will NEVER be the same without her, but we will all be better having had her in our lives.
We will all cherish the beautiful memories we made over the years.
She’s finally breathing easy again, riding horses and holding Cora…sending us warm hugs encouraging us to make her proud.
She was a Gawd Damned Rockstar!!
