Floris Lee Wolford, lovingly known as “Flo” and “Flo Jo,” passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 80.
She was born on May 9, 1945, in Fairfield, Texas, to the late Elore Love Jackson and Antonio Jackson.
Flo was a woman of strength, honesty, and unwavering conviction. She was known for her direct nature—never afraid to tell it like it is—yet always motivated by a deep desire to uplift and inspire others. Her words carried wisdom, encouragement, and a belief in the potential of those around her, especially when it came to the value of education.
Her greatest passion was her career in education, where she dedicated over 30 years of service in Special Education within school districts in Texas and Las Vegas. Flo made a lasting impact on countless students and families, advocating tirelessly for children with special needs. She was also a devoted advocate for autism awareness and supported initiatives for battered women, extending her compassion beyond the classroom.
A woman of strong Christian faith, Flo lived her life guided by her beliefs, offering love, resilience, and grace to those who knew her.
In her leisure time, she found joy in interior decorating and cherished every moment spent with her family, whom she loved deeply.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Tara; siblings, Petty Shed, Angus Jackson and Wayne Jackson.
Floris Lee Wolford leaves behind a legacy of strength, service, and inspiration that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 25 years, Larry M. Wolford; daughter, Tonya Wilson and her husband, Glenn Wilson; grandchildren, Sjakkan Daniels and her husband, Domonique Daniels, Quintan Hardin, “Mooky” Wilson and Kweisi Hardin; great grandson, Kier James Hardin; siblings, Ruby Dean Henry, Lota Lipsomb, Sheila Jackson, Don Jackson, Glenda Jackson and Gary Jackson.
