With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Gregory Richard Hansen, who left this world peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by the family he cherished above all else.
Born on April 17, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Bernard and Rosalie Hansen, Gregory lived a life defined by dedication, hard work, sacrifice, and unconditional love. He was a man of quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a generous heart. To know Greg was to know someone who would always show up when he was needed, offer a helping hand, and put the needs of his family before his own.
Gregory was the beloved husband of Patricia Lavern Hansen, his partner in life and love. Together they built a family that became the center of his world. He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Gregory, Brian and Jason. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his family grow and spending time with those he loved. His greatest accomplishments were not measured by awards or achievements, but by the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who carry his love and values forward.
As a young man, Gregory answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served with courage and honor, earning the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. Though he rarely sought recognition for his sacrifices, he carried the lessons of service, resilience, and perseverance with him throughout his life.
After returning home, Gregory built a livelihood with his own two hands. What began as making window screens from his garage eventually grew into Hansen Screen Company. Through determination, hard work, and a commitment to quality, he created not only a successful business but a lasting legacy of dedication and integrity.
Gregory found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature, where some of his favorite memories were made. Whether sharing stories, teaching life lessons, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, he had a way of making ordinary moments feel special.
Above all, Gregory was a family man. He loved deeply, protected fiercely, and gave generously. His presence brought comfort, wisdom, and laughter to those around him. The values he lived by—honesty, hard work, loyalty, and love—will continue to guide the family he adored.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Lavern Hansen; his sons, Gregory, Brian, Jason, Jacob, and James; his grandchildren, Brian, Britany, Gregory, Rosalie, Brandon, Leanne, Jason(JJ), Carmen, and Owen; and his great-grandchildren, Julianna, Alianna, Bodi, and Evelyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Rosalie Hansen, and his siblings, Dolly, Barbara, Gerry (Bitty)and Bernard.
While our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind and the love that will remain with us forever. Gregory’s life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
