It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Deacon Sam Varney Kpehe Sr., who peacefully departed this life on August 1, 2026, at age 63.
Born on January 18, 1963, in Kolahun Kolba City, Lofa County, Liberia, Sam was the cherished son of Mr. Sammie Kpehe and Mrs. Kpana Sando Kpehe (both deceased). From an early age, he demonstrated kindness, integrity, a strong sense of responsibility, and a Christian faith that remained evident throughout his life.
He would do Bible study every night. He was very stern, but he meant well and was always there for everyone in the family. I remember falling asleep during some of those Bible studies, and he would slap me awake. He hated American football but was always there to support me when I played. He was the one who recommended I join the army, and I’m grateful I listened because he’s a big reason, I am the man I am today.
As a brother, he was a pillar of strength, guidance, and encouragement to his siblings and extended family. He was known for his wisdom, humility, patience, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of those around him. His advice, generous spirit, and quiet leadership left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. As a father, he was amazing, a disciplinarian who was loving yet never willing to compromise on what was right. He provided for and protected his family. He instilled Christian values in his children. He was meticulous in how he dealt with people, never wanting to hurt anyone.
Sam earned his Bachelor of Science in Business/Management from the University of Phoenix in February 2008 and went on to pursue a career in administration, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues for his dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
He was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Faith Presbyterian Church, where he and his family actively participated in church activities and served with love and commitment. His faith was evident in how he treated others with compassion, generosity, and grace.
Above all, Brother, as he is known to all, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He treasured his family and took great joy in time spent with loved ones.
His legacy of love, faith, service, and perseverance will continue to inspire future generations.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives, and many friends in Liberia and the United States, all whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we rejoice in the assurance that his life was a blessing and that his memory will remain with us forever. We thank God for the years we shared with him and pray that his soul rests in eternal peace.
