Resided in: San Antonio , Texas

Rose Marie Lang, age 80, gained her Angel wings peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 9, 1945, to the late Ruby and Walter Merriweather.

From a young age, Rose was raised in the church and began singing in the church choir. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she never hesitated to share the light of Jesus that shone so brightly through her. Rose lived her faith not only through her words, but through the way she loved, served, and cared for others.

Rose was a devoted daughter who took on the responsibility of caring for her parents at a young age. Her heart was naturally selfless, and she was always willing to help anyone in need. She truly would have given the shirt off her back to someone who needed it. Rose never met a stranger she wouldn’t help, and her kindness touched countless lives.

Then Rose met her soulmate, Claude Lee, and it was love at first sight. Claude saw the beautiful heart she carried within her and accepted not only Rose, but her beloved parents as well. Together, Rose and Claude built a life filled with love, family, faith, and adventure. Claude’s military career took their family to many wonderful places, including Japan, Hawaii, and Denver. No matter where life took them, Rose made a home filled with warmth and love.

Rose was, without a doubt, the BEST Mama in the world. She was a wonderful cook, and everywhere she lived, she quickly became affectionately known as “Mama Rose” to the neighborhood children. Her home was always filled with children, laughter, delicious baked goodies, and love. Whether she was baking treats, welcoming children into her home, or building snowmen with them, Rose treasured every moment spent with the little ones around her.

She had a special gift for making every child feel loved, safe, and welcome. Her children will forever treasure the beautiful memories she created—memories of a mother whose home and heart were always open. To so many children beyond her own, she was also a second mama, a trusted caregiver, and a loving presence they will never forget.

Rose attended nursing school and spent many years working in the medical field. Her caring heart and desire to help others naturally carried into her work, where she touched the lives of many through her compassion and dedication.

Rose was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church and later attended True Vision Church. Her faith remained an important part of her life, and she made sure to instill the importance of faith and a relationship with Jesus in her children. The spiritual foundation she gave them is one of the greatest gifts she leaves behind.

Rose’s legacy is one of faith, love, sacrifice, compassion, family, and service. She loved deeply, gave freely, and never turned away someone in need. Her beautiful spirit, generous heart, infectious warmth, and unwavering faith will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all those who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we can find comfort knowing that Rose has finished her earthly journey and is now resting in the loving arms of her Savior. Her work here is done, and her Angel wings have carried her home.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee Lang, her daughter, Veronica Michelle Thompson and son, Alfred Thompson Jr. and parents.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Yvette “Peaches” Jackson and son, James E. “ Junebug” Jackson Jr.; granddaughter, Destiny Stephens; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Tyray, Chauce, Ajoy, Devion and Ammir; great-great grandchildren, Ameena Nicole, Rose, Ezra Anthony Stephens; siblings, Myra Thomas, Odessa Hall and James Dukes; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lang and numerus other relatives.

Rest peacefully, Mama Rose.
Your light will continue to shine through all of us.
Until we meet again in Heaven, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
