Beverly Amatina “Tina” Franceschi Cunha

1930-2026

Born in Santa Cruz California. Her parents immigrated from Italy in 1912 (father) and 1907 (mother).

Tina married John “Jack” Cunha in 1948. His career in the Army took them all across the United States and abroad where they lived in Izmir, Turkey for 3 years. Their final assignment with the Army brought them to San Antonio where they raised their family and remained. Tina finally had a chance to work and became a real estate agent. She was always ready to help someone buy a house even if it meant she had to finance it for them. Some of those relationships became good friends.

Later she volunteered at the Ft Sam Houston “Original” thrift shop, the Fisher house and later at BAMC where she was known as the “Popper Girl” when she volunteered at the popcorn stand near the pharmacy. She loved being able to interact with people and made many friends through her volunteer work. She was a volunteer for 40 years before retiring.

She is survived by her daughter Jacque and husband Goodhue Smith, her daughter Toni and partner, Linda Hardy and her son Tom Cunha as well as grandchildren, Ashley Nichols and her fiancé, Ivan Hernandez, Austin Geyer and significant other, Joslynn Alcorta and Seth Cunha, and Christina Cunha West and her husband Cory.

She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Meredith Nichols and her fiancé, Ryder Bechtold, Weston Geyer, Ashlynn Geyer and Addilynn West as well as Joslynn’s children, Kendall and Olivia.

She is also survived by relatives in California, her sister in law, Jill Franceschi, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, her brothers and her husband, Jack Cunha as well as her son, John Cunha.

The family will gather privately to celebrate her life, share stories, and remember a life filled with love, family, and friendship.
