Plum W. Mulkey Jr.

Plum W. Mulkey, Jr., also affectionately known as “Boo” or Uncle Boo” was born in Mason, TX on June 28, 1935.

Born to Plum and Viola Mulkey, he grew up in a home rooted in love, hard work, and faith—values he carried throughout his life. Plum shared a close bond with his siblings and adopted siblings: Freddie Stewart, Mitzi Lawson, Gillie Mulkey JoAnn McIntosh, Sidney Mulkey, and Ann Speares, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Their shared stories, laughter, and lifelong connection were among his greatest joys.

Boo attended elementary school in Brownwood, TX and entered high school in San Antonio, TX. He was unable to complete his high school education due to childhood polio and a seizure disorder. However, his lack of formal education did not prevent him from staying current with world events and providing sharp insights into conversations. He was a fountain of knowledge, particularly in regard to family history, He would frequently mention events that occurred as much as 75 years ago in vivid detail.

Because of his disability, he never married and continued to live with his mother and father until their deaths, then continued to live in the family home alone until he was physically unable to care for himself.

Boo spent his final years in assisted living facilities and then in a nursing home. He never lost his zest for life or his interest in the world around him. He watched the news every day and always had an opinion about current events.

On September 6, 2026, at the age of 91, Boo entered eternal rest while sleeping in his bed. Boo was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Freddie, Mitzi, and Gillie.

He is survived by his siblings, JoAnn, Sidney, and Ann and a host of nieces and nephews.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, steadiness, and sincerity—one that will continue to guide and inspire those who were blessed to know him. Though he is no longer with us, the impact of his life remains, carried forward in the hearts of all who loved him.

Plum W. Mulkey, Jr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
