Patricia “Patty” Leyva Wilson, age 59, entered into God’s Kingdom on Friday, September 25, 2026. Affectionately known as “Patty” by her family and friends, she leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and cherished memories.
Patty was born on August 20, 1967, in San Antonio, Texas, and was a proud graduate of South San High School, Class of 1985.
In 2009, Patty received what she considered one of the greatest gifts God could ever give her—the gift of becoming a mother. She was over the moon to have earned the title of “Mom” and treasured it with all her heart. Her one and only son, Rene Michael Serrano, was the light of her life and the source of countless moments of joy and pride.
Patty had an extraordinary love for animals and was affectionately known as the “Cat Lady.” Her compassion extended especially to cats, and she was a member of the Cat Coalition of San Antonio. Her gentle heart and willingness to give made her a blessing to both people and animals.
Family meant everything to Patty. She was a deeply loving and giving person with a heart that seemed to have room for everyone. She treasured the time spent with her loved ones, and her family will forever hold close the memories they made together on their many vacations and adventures, including trips to Las Vegas, Kickapoo Casino, and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Her husband, Alfred, will especially miss the little moments that made their life together so special—including hearing Patty sing during their drives. Those memories, along with her laughter, voice, and loving presence, will remain forever in his heart.
Patty possessed a remarkable fighting spirit. For many years, she bravely battled CREST syndrome, facing each challenge with strength and determination. She often found a special connection with her favorite character, Sally, from The Nightmare Before Christmas, relating to Sally’s patchwork appearance and describing her own experience as feeling like she was continually “patching herself together.” Even through difficult times, Patty continued to show the strength and spirit that those who loved her admired so deeply.
Patty will forever be remembered for her beauty, her kindness, her generous spirit, and, most of all, her loving heart. She gave so much of herself to the people and animals she cared for, leaving an imprint that will never fade.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Patty’s love lives on through her son, her husband, her family, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched. The memories she created will be treasured, and her beautiful spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Patty is preceded in death by her father, George Garci Leyva Sr., brothers; Geroge G. Leyva Jr. and Gabriel Leyva.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 18 years, Alfred Wilson, her son, Rene Michael Serrano; siblings, Teresa Knight, John Leyva (Rita), Cynthia Sierra (John), Jessica Lopez (John); fur babies, Darby, Winter, Bella, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Rest peacefully, Patty. Your work here is done. May you now be reunited with God and surrounded by the eternal peace and love you so faithfully believed in. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
