Samuel H. Giles

samuel giles
Samuel Horace Giles was the first of fourteen (14) children born to the union of Horace Grealee Giles and Lillian Alberta Jones Giles on March 20, 1932 in Yoakum, Texas. Both would precede him in death. Who, but God, would have known that Samuel would turn out to be a Trail Blazer, having only completed a sixth grade education? Yet, it was God, Who endowed this young man with a remarkable entrepreneurial spirit that would form a firm foundation and a spring board for future success in areas of construction and as a successful restaurateur. Not only did he possess/operate three construction trucks, he also owned/operated three successful restaurants, creating the very first rolling Barbecue Pit, which became well-renowned in and around San Antonio, Texas. Samuel also put his time in as a seasoned cook at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. Samuel H. Giles married five times and brought two children: Horace Giles and Henry Hill when he united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Marie Scott in 1958 at his final marriage. This union produced three sons and three daughters: Gus Giles; Sammy Wayne Giles; Rhonda Giles, Ronald Keith Giles, Sharon Yvette Giles and Sherry Yvonne (Giles) Steidel. Dorothy and Rhonda would precede Samuel in death. Samuel executed his faith through his faithful membership and support of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. A visionary, he both sought and delivered prayer, opting to keep his television tuned into TBN. He was well equipped with wit and a word of wisdom. Samuel H. Giles is preceded in death by his parents Horace and Lillian Giles; wife, Dorothy Marie Giles; daughter, Rhonda; Siblings, Marshall Giles, Joe Louis Giles, Wilbur (Mickey) Giles , Julius Giles, Leon Giles, Cornell Giles, Edith (Giles) Bates, Myrtle Isabelle (Giles) Bonner, Robert (Tim) Giles and Oscar (Peepsie) Giles . Samuel H. Giles body of work includes seeds of hope that he has faithfully emplaced in the lives which God has enable him to impact while on this earth. Truly, this was a life well lived. He leaves behind to celebrate a legacy of love his sons: Horace Giles, Henry Hill, Gus Giles, Sammy Wayne Giles, and Ronald Giles; daughters: Sharon Giles and Sherry (Giles) Steidel; brothers Marcel l Giles and Jimmy Giles and one sister, Mary Ann Ross and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
