Tellecia Marie Brown was born to U.S. Army Captain Theodore Shields Brown and Eleanor Marie Brown on November 3, 1970 in San Antonio, Texas. The oldest of two children, Tellecia was preceded in death by her sister, U.S. Army 1st Lieutenant Terese D. Sheppard (August 31, 1972 - February 1, 2013), their beloved mother, Eleanor Marie Brown (August 29, 1950 - October 5, 1996)and her grandmother, Jewel Clark (Decemter 18, 1918 - November 10, 2011. Tellecia graduated from Fox Tech High School with honors in 1989. She was a member of the Drama Club and participated in a number of UIL plays. She attended San Antonio College for a brief time before entering the United States Naval Reserves. In the fall of 1991, she completed Naval Training in Florida and returned to San Antonio. She then continued with her college studies and graduated from the University of San Antonio in 1995 with a BA in Criminal Justice. While acquiring her degree she worked as a reservation agent for American Airlines. Upon graduating she worked for a brief period as a wilderness camp counselor for troubled teens. She returned home in September 1996 to care for her ailing mother with the help of her sister, Terese Sheppard. In 1997, Tellecia accepted employment with the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center and was promoted to Juvenile Probation Officer. In 2007, she decided to assist youth as a certified classroom teacher. First, she worked at Walker Elementary with the School of Excellence. Then she accepted a position at Cameron Elementary with the San Antonio Independent School District. She continued to teach until 2016, when her health required more attention. In addition to working, Tellecia enjoyed riding her bike in the Metropolitan and King Williams District, painting, knitting and the Martial Art Capoeira. She was a capoeira student for a period of over 10 years and decided to teach her own classes at the Davis Scott YMCA and did so for about 3 years. Tellecia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became very active in church. She joined the Saint Phillip Baptist Church on November 30, 2014. She is survived by her father, Cpt. Theodore S. Brown, Ret.; grandmother, Mavis Brown; aunt, Marsha Brown; niece, Brittany Sheppard and great nephew Kalob, along with a host of relatives, nephews, nieces and cousins.
