daisy kuykendall
Daisy Margaret Kuykendall was a wonderful and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to everyone she graced her presence with. Daisy was born to Will Harris and Ida Harris(Jefferson) on November 6, 1911 in Floresville, Texas. She was also known to most family members as "Coonie" and "Granny" to her Grandchildren and most of the Eastside community. Mrs. Kuykendall went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2015.8 days after her 104th Birthday. In the 1920s Daisy married the late Erick Kuykendall Sr in Floresville, TX and then later moved to San Antonio, TX. To this union, two children were born the late Erick Kuykendall Jr on December 17, 1930 and then 20 years later after arguing with the Doctor that she was not pregnant, Margaret Carol Kuykendall was born on July 11, 1950. Daisy was a very active and loving mother to her children. She spent countless days and nights in the late 1940s attending football and basketball practices with her son Erick, who later became one of the Best running backs to come out of Wheatly High School, went to the University of Illinois, joined the Air Force, and played Professional Football with the Cleveland Browns. Daisy had to start over again 20 years later raising Margaret who graduated Brackenridge high school and later attended nursing school at St Philip to become a successful LVN. Daisy also helped raise many other family members including two of her Granddaughters Yvette and Andrea. She worked at the Alamo Express in San Antonio and then accepted a housekeeping job in the late 1960s with Chuck and Sara Barnes. She remained their housekeeper for almost 30 years before retiring. Daisy also ran a caf and did a little work on the side assisting her Great Niece prepare catering services for weddings and parties in Floresville. She was really good with her homemade cooking skill-making something out of nothing and making taste oh so good. Daisy was a child of God and a dedicated member of Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church for decades and has shared many Pastors past and present. She was also a member of the Usher board, Choir, and the Courtesy Committee. She had only one wish of the many devoted years she spent of her life and that wish was that we would never put her in a nursing home and we are proud to say that we honored her wish. She passed away while at home with a look of peace on her face and her daughter by her side. We know in our hearts that you will continue to watch over us from heaven and we will continue to cherish your memory in our hearts forever. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Margaret Edwards; 3 Grandchildren; Yvette Brown, Andrea Williams, Kamika Edwards, 5 Great Grandchildren; Shawniqua Stewart, Taylor Barnes, Alex Perryman, Alexia Perryman, Adrianna Perryman, and a Great Great Grandchild Jasmine Woodley, 6 Nieces; Leatrice Williams, Theda Matthews, Ida Mae Harris, Margaret Harris, Barbra Jean Menefee, Dorothy Helen McDay, 5 Nephews; Christopher Kuykendall, John Henry Harris, Horace Harris, William Harris, Kenneth Harris; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, relatives, and friends.
