Virginia Pearl Godfrey, age 86 passed away on December 26, 2011. She was recently hospitalized with kidney failure. Virginia was born July 23, 1925 in Stark Kansas, Neosho County to Gilbert and Alta(Hockett) Crapson. She was one of 10 children. In 1941 she and her family moved to Concrete, Washington where she met and later married Alvin Godfrey on April 30, 1944, they were married for 43 years, they raised their two children, Christine and Lynn in Concrete. She is survived by her two children Christine Perry (husband David) and Lynn Godfrey (wife Twyla), 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, 6 siblings, Roberta Sherman, Sedro-Woolley, Gilbert Jr. of Burlington, Melvin (wife Ethel) of Mount Vernon, Henry (wife Kathy)of Snohomish, Darrell (wife Althea), of Benson Arizona and Faye Skulberstad (husband Allen) of Lake Stevens and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin in 1987. Virginia dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1942. Her life centered on her devotion to Jehovah. Sharing Bible truths with others and participating in all the activities of Jehovah's Witnesses brought her great joy. She was a very spiritual person even after she developed dementia, she spent hours reading and studying the Bible and her Bible literature. She had the privilege of sharing in the fulltime ministry for several years. Virginia was an adventurous person, she thoroughly enjoyed herself when she attended two international conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses in Prague in 1991, Kenya in 1994. She had a never give up spirit and her hope of living in a Paradise here on earth remained strong even up to her death. Virginia enjoyed life very much, she loved knitting and crocheting, she made afgans for many people. She also loved fishing, gardening, traveling, cooking, quilting, photography and making new friends. Wherever Virginia lived she viewed her friends at the Kingdom Hall as her family too and enjoyed many good times with them. She moved from Concrete, Washington to Junction City, Kansas in 1988 to be near her son. She returned to Skagit County in 1997, then moved to San Antonio Texas in 2004 and lived with her son and daughter-in-law until her death. The family wishes to express thanks for the love and support that has been shown to Virginia and them during this difficult time.
