Patricia Louise Beard

PATRICIA LOUISE BEARD February 6, 1930 October 24, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Louise Roberts Beard. She died peacefully on October 24, 2015. She lived all her life in San Antonio, TX, born to John William Roberts and Marie Alma Hasselbauer on February 6, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley Burge. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Hardy; daughters: Nanette Gardner and Alison Blessing; and son, Paul William Strayer; grandchildren: Patrick Ivy, Julie Ivy, Brenna Blessing and Will Austin Blessing; great granddaughter, Elise Catherine Ivy. Patricia majored in art at the University of Texas, at Austin and received a Master degree in Education from Trinity University in San Antonio. She taught art, PE, and special education at Northeast School District before becoming a Special Education Consultant, spending over 40 years in education, which was work that she loved. She was a Life Master in bridge and played in several groups in San Antonio and tournaments around the country. Her hobbies were gardening; and needlework and sewing, where she created many beautiful works of art. Patricia was an avid lover of music and attended Austin Opera Company productions and San Antonio Symphony concerts, as well as San Antonio Broadway musical productions every year. Patricia was an outgoing and caring person, maintaining friends from Alamo Heights high school throughout her life and making new friends where ever she went, especially during her years at the Inn at Los Patios, where she often said she had 500 friends. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Northwood Presbyterian Church. All who wish to attend are welcome to join the family.
