January 16, 1955 ~ August 11, 2014
BRIAN W. BREEDLOVE, 59, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas after a long illness. The youngest of three sons, Brian was born January 16, 1955 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Shawnee High School and came to San Antonio to attend Trinity University. He was a member of the Trinitonian Newspaper staff for several years and spoke frequently of the rush to meet the late night deadlines followed by breakfast at Mi Tierra's. Upon completion of his degree in 1977 in Construction Management, Brian moved to Houston, TX to begin his career, working for two homebuilding companies before venturing out to establish his own successful company. The crash of the Houston economy in the early 1980's forced him to close this business. He was especially proud of being able to accomplish this without a bankruptcy and he never cashed the check from the final house closings in Houston, a check for $.05 as a reminder. In 1985, Brian moved to DeLand, FL and established a new company, Waterford Development Corporation. During 20 years, the company constructed over 1, 000 homes in Central Florida. He was a member of the Volusia County Builders Association and served as president in 1988. He was named Builder of the Year in 1989. Brian also represented the Association on several National Association of Homebuilders committees. In 1994, Brian moved his family back to San Antonio, to be able to provide a better education for his children and then commuted to Florida for a number of years to continue the family business. He continued his homebuilding activities until his illness took him away from his passion. Brian had been a member of Methodist Churches in Florida and Texas. Brian is preceded in death by his parents, William David Breedlove Jr. and Wannette Wolfe Breedlove. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mackenzie L. Harris and Spencer Harris of Austin, Texas; son Geoffrey W. Breedlove of Overland Park, KS; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William David Breedlove III and Marilee Breedlove of Shawnee, OK; Dale L. Breedlove and Billie Breedlove of DeLand, FL; nephew and wife, William David Breedlove IV and Kim Breedlove of Bartlesville, OK; niece and husband, Leigh Kimberling and Tim Kimberling of Ballwin, MO; three great nephews and one great niece. As requested by Brian, a celebration of his life was held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at La Fonda on Main. Burial will be in Oklahoma at a family service. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to William Goodman and the team of caregivers who provided support and care to Brian during his illness. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to SAMMinistries or The American Cancer Society.
