Lydia R. Parsley
September 19, 1943 ~ January 8, 2017
Lydia R. Parsley, a fiercely strong woman to many, and devoted servant of God, was called home to be with our Lord on January 8, 2017. Born September 19, 1943 and a native of San Antonio, she graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1962. In 1982, she married the man that would stand by her side for the remainder of her life, William Parsley, and together they shared 34 years of unwavering love. It was during this time with William, that Lydia found the Lord on a Saturday afternoon on her way to the bank and was later baptized at Eisenhauer Road Baptist Church. Lydia would become a member of the congregation at Alamo City Christian Fellowship, and remain so for the remainder of her days.
In 1991, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. However, as the years passed, and the disease began to take it's toll on her body, she never lost her faith in God, nor her stoic sense of humor. Confined to a wheelchair, she never once gave up. She never once crumbled under pressure. She continued to remain the beacon and anchor for her family that they knew she would be. And in her last few days, she demonstrated her strength, grace and dignity that those close to her would come to expect.
Lydia was greeted in Heaven by her father and mother, Leon and Rosa Rodriguez, as well as her brother-in-Law, Charles MacAnear, and Son-In-Law, Antonio M. Sanchez. Where once her legs would not carry her, she now walks on streets of gold, preparing places for those she leaves behind. Her loving husband, William R. Parsley. Her two daughters, Rosalie Hammond and Lydia Sanchez. Her three grandchildren, James Robert Hammond, Christina Boman (Brian), and Andrea M. Sanchez. Her siblings, Ernestina Perez (Gilberto), Leon A. Rodriguez, and Rudy Rodriguez. And her Sister-In-Law, Frances MacAnear, as well as Brother-in-Law, Charles Parsley (Linda)

I’m so sorry for your loss. Isaiah 33:24 says that no one under God’s kingdom or government, which we ask for in our prayers, will ever say they’re ill. 1Corinthians 15:26 also says “As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing.” These are only two scriptures of so many that we can grasp a little tighter during times of anguish.
