Robert "Robbie" J. Cole, Jr.

robert
Robert Cole Jr. was born March 6, 1968, in Saigon, Vietnam. At the age of two he was adopted by Robert and Asako Cole and came to live in San Antonio, Texas, along with his adopted sister Sherry Marie Cole. Robert grew up in Connecticut and in San Antonio and graduated from South San High School. Robert Cole Jr. had a hard life. He suffered polio before being adopted and always had difficulty walking. Introduced to Nichiren Buddhism by his mother Asako, Robert was a life-long member of the Soka Gakkai International USA. He consistently prayed Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with the determination to overcome his personal demons and physical problems. His friends and members of SGI-USA remember Robert as charming, a good conversationalist and full of fun. Robert had just recently returned to San Antonio and was staying with his mother. He often spoke of how wonderful his mother was, how she was so supportive and how her strong Buddhist practice inspired him to strive to be a better person. Robert passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on April 13, 2013. He will be greatly missed.
