September 3, 1955 ~ May 16, 2010

Darlene Drummer, the daughter of Willie G. Drummers, Sr. and Hattie Lee Hockley was born on September 3, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas. Darlene passed away on May 16, 2010. She was the fourth child of nine children, six boys and three girls. Her brother, Donald Drummer preceded her in death along with her parents. Darlene attended schools in the San Antonio Independent School District. She worked as a provider for many years and worked in nursing homes, she also was a housekeeper for many people. Darlene married James A. Coates and two children were born , Sharon Denise Drummer and Crystal Nicole Coates. Later Darlene married Alan Hopson to which no children were born. After their relationship ended she shared the rest of her life with Charles Evans. Darlene was dedicated to helping others no matter what their problems were, willing to provide shelter, food, and clothing to those in need. She was able to walk in the grocery store and talk to a stranger but before she left they were friends and had already exchanged information, that's what kind of woman she was. She didn't let anyone or anything get in her way and if you thought for once you where going to get over on her, she had a few tricks up her sleeve. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters; Sharon D. Drummer (Larry Autry) and Crystal N. Coates (Greg Carrizal), seven grandchildren: Casey, Kalvaugn, and Christian George, Gregory, Elijah, Tiara and Alexus Carrizal and Dezarae Davis, five brothers; Willie G. Jr.(Yvette), Larry(Beverly), Cornell, Samuel Glenn and Alvin (Daphne)Drummer, four sisters; Elaine Dukes, Mabel Estelle Alexander(Leon), Jaqueline Taylor and Betty Woods. She also leaves numerous close family members, extended family, friends and loved ones. Darlene will truly be missed by her family for all the love and support she gave to all of us, and all the moments we shared as a family.
