November 24, 1944 ~ May 13, 2010

Lonnie Clarence "Chubby" Pleasant was the fourth of nine children born to Thomas M. Pleasant, Sr. and Joe Eddie McHenry Pleasant. He was born on November, 24, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas. Lonnie was always proud to call San Antonio, Texas "home". He was reared in the San Antonio Community and baptized at his boyhood church home, West Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Lonnie attended San Antonio public schools, which culminated with his earning a Diploma from Edgewood High School in San Antonio, Texas. He later graduated from the School of Histotechnology at The Santa Rosa Medical Center and the Clinical Laboratory School of the United States Army. Lonnie served as a Specialist in the United States Army, operating as both a Histopathology Technician and a Clinical Laboratory Technician. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he was employed by the University of Texas Health Science Center, National Health Laboratory and the Southwest Foundation for Research and Education as both a Microbiology lab and a Urology lab technician. His professional designations include memberships in the Registry of Medical Technologists as well as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Lonnie was united in marriage to Dr. Irene Villarreal Pleasant. From this union came one daughter, Mary Esther Pleasant of San Antonio, Texas. He later united in marriage with Linnea Alane Banks-Pleasant. From this union he acquired two daughters, Tamu M. Banks and Rashanda M. Banks of San Antonio, Texas and became a surrogate father to his niece, Alice R. Gaines of San Antonio, Texas. Lonnie was a hard worker, at work, at home and at play. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and barbeque "Master". He was an excellent cook with a great sense of humor, who would sometimes cook "surprise" delicacies for his family. He loved meeting and spending time with family and friends and never met a stranger. Having spent any time in his presence meant being regaled with a least one fishing tale. Lonnie could often be found enjoying a good game of spades or dominoes, making sure he talked plenty of "trash"while he was winning books. Lonnie Clarence Pleasant, known and loved by family and friends as "Chubby" and "Poppy", was called from labor to reward on May 13, 2010. Lonnie was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas M. Pleasant, Sr. and Joe Eddie McHenry Pleasant, his sister Jerline Pleasant Sorrell (Emmanuel Sorrell, Sr.), his brother, Freddie Pleasant, his aunt, Hazel Bennings, his uncle, Elvin Joshua Pleasant, Jr., a niece, Cynthia Sorrell Rogers (Wade), his nephew, Emmanuel Sorrell Jr. and his in-laws, Robert Dean, Victor Thomas and Ava Stiles. We yearn to see our dear loved ones again. Jesus promised, the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out -John chapter 5 verse 28 and 29.
