April 19, 1932 ~ August 30, 2015
Heaven needed a loved man and Jim passed from this life to the next on August 30, 2015 in San Antonio. Jim was born in Bartlett, TX, on April 19, 1932 growing up in a South Texas farming and ranching family in Christine, Jourdanton, and Poteet.
Jim served his country in the Coast Guard on the destroyer escort USS Finch. After returning, he met and married his wife Karolyn Kay Yates, his wife of 57 years.
He was always a happy man who loved his family dearly, as well as the outdoors where he fished and hunted on their family ranch.
Jim is predeceased by his parents, Alie and Lena and his sister Frances Harris and brother Charles Miller. He is survived by Kay, stepdaughter Pamela Simpson, sons & daughters in law, Darrell Lee (Miranda) and David Logan (Tina); grandchildren: Travis, Jeremy, Judith, Grace, Aaron, Logan, Nathan, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our family is grateful to the hospice care of Tabita Ciobanas at Happy Living Care Home. A memorial service will be held at Castle Hills First Baptist Church, Grace Chapel, 2220 NW Military Hwy in San Antonio, 78213 on Thursday, September 3 at 2:00pm with David George officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent in Jim's memory to Castle Hills First Baptist Church.
