She married Jose Fuentes in 1942 at Perpetual Help Church in San Antonio, and they lived on a small farm near Martinez, Texas before relocating to San Antonio in 1956.
Herlinda was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and she participated with Las Guadalupanas while her health permitted it. She continued to receive communion at her home.
Herlinda is survived by four children; Jose, Jr. (Diana), Yolanda Marquart, Lupe Gifford (Vance) of San Antonio and Edward Fuentes of Austin, Texas; Grandchildren, Stephanie Taylor, Marcie Thomas, Christine Hagerty, Stephen Marquart, James Gifford and Olivia Sekula as well as twelve Great-Grandchildren and one sister, Eloisa Arizpe (Servando).
She was preceded in death by her husband Jose, daughter, Doria Delia and nine brothers and sisters.
The family conveys its most sincere thanks to Allison Fuentes, a great-granddaughter, for her years of devotion to and loving care for her great-grandmother. The family was most fortunate in having Allison as a primary caregiver.
Guestbook
Dear Yolanda and family
It was with deep sadness I learned of the passing of
Mrs. Fuentes. Her journey on Earth was long but her time in Heaven will be eternal.
God bless and comfort you all.
A VISION
An angel sang in the heavens tonight
And welcomed another soul
with pure delight
A soul that left loved ones behind
And suffers no more, is peaceful of mind
The angel then guided the joyful soul
To meet the Lord with grace,
“Welcome, Herlinda†He said
And gave the soul a warm embrace
An angel sang in the heavens tonight
as the Lord received a precious soul
with pure delight.

Yolanda, my deepest condolences to you and your family. May she rest in peace.
She was actually my great grandmother too, I was so sad when my grandpa told me the news…
I was never really close to her, but reading this makes me want to cry. It amazes me how she managed to fight against cancer and live to 102 years old. Allison always helped my great grandma.
