Evelyn Fields Allen

evelyn allen
Mrs. Evelyn F. Allen was born December 21, 1937 to Leonard Stevenson, Sr., and Betty Mae Fields in Saint Hedwig, Texas. At an early age she moved to San Antonio, Texas and later moved Austin, Texas where she resided until her passing. Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age at Hebron Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.C. Brown. Evelyn's career spanned over 25 years with the Travis State School. It was there that she made lifelong friendships with the staff, patients and their families. Because of her loving ways, she was loved. She also had a green thumb. She loved planting flowers, especially roses. She was known for taking cuttings from anywhere she saw beautiful plants and replant them in her yard and soon they would be budding in her garden. Her yard is proof of her gift to grow roses which she often shared with many of her family and friends. If you received a rose or a rose bush from her you knew you were loved. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbert Carson and her granddaughter, Precious Oakmon. She leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters and their spouses; Bertha Ella Stevenson (Richard) of San Antonio, Texas; Evelyn Louise Stevenson (Arthur) of San Antonio, Texas; Debra Ann Stevenson of Austin, Texas and Patricia Ann Oakmon (Eric) of Pflugerville, Texas, three sisters and their spouses; Doris Carter (Robert Sr.), Beauty Jackson and Virginia Jackson, three brothers and their spouses; Leroy Cunningham (Betty), Leonard Stevenson, Jr. (Rose) and Howard Fields. She also leaves eleven grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
