Sharon Denise Mackey was the first child born to the union of Robert and Barbara Mackey on January 20, 1960 in Bartlett, Texas. As a baby, Sharon's parent moved with her to San Antonio, Texas. Sharon attended public schools and graduated from Job Corps in McKinney, Texas. Sharon continued her education and took college courses at San Antonio College, Incarnate Word University and Everest Institute. She received her certification for Medical Insurance Billing and Coding, Human Resource Generalist and Computer Programming.
Sharon attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized at the age of 11 by Reverend R. L . Archield, Sr., and she also participated in the youth choir.
Sharon worked at KENS-TV Inc., where she retired after 24 years. She received various awards and recognitions.
To her nieces, nephews and her first cousin's children, she was known as "AUNTY". She had style and grace and was a trendsetter. Sharon could accessorize anything "Oh boy could she wear a hat". Her closest friends knew her as "BUD".
After a long battle with illness Sharon left this life peacefully with family and friends surrounding her.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father Robert Mackey, Sr., her paternal grandparents Oza and Thelma Mackey, her beloved Aunt Dorothy Griffin, and her brother-in-law, Robert Polk.
Sharon leaves to cherish her precious memories: her mother Barbara Rice and step-father Henry"Hank"Rice, her sister: Beverly Mackey and Sandra Mackey-Polk and her brothers: Robert Mackey, Jr. (Gloria) and Kenny Collins, her stepsisters: Paula London (Bill) and Michelle Rice-Harris (Jamie), her twin cousin Phyllis Darden-Caldwell, her nephews: Terrance, Chris, and Joseph, her nieces:Ebonee'and Crystal, five great-nieces and nephews, her grandmother Dorothy Amos (Frank), her great-aunt Patsy Bracey, great-uncle J.W. Roberson (Daisy), an abundance of aunts and uncles, a great number of cousins, loved ones and friends.
