Cecilio M. Vargas, Jr., age 72, of San Antonio went into eternal rest October 7, 2014. After serving in the U.S. Army, he became a commissioned peace officer and worked for University Health System in the security departments of Robert B. Green Campus and University Hospital for 28 years. Mr. Vargas is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Vargas; daughters, Monica Vargas and Cynthia Lopez; sons, Daniel J. Vargas, Jason Vargas and Michael Vargas; sisters Candy Reyes and Priscilla Vargas; brothers, David, Jesse and Tony Vargas. Cecilio was a hardworking man who loved his 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, all of whom he spoiled as much as possible. Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.

  1. So sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort among your family and friends and in the happy moments you lived with your husband ,father, brother, grandfather and friend. Comfort can also be found in Gods word the bible, where we read of his promise of a resurrection found in John 5:28,29. Revelation 21:4 promises no more death. Draw close to God he promises to be near…psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress.”
