Reflection of Life
“A Time to be Born”
Alice Marie Peterson was born to Mrs. Elsie Mae (Gammage) Freeman and Mr. Warner Eugene Reed Sr., April 23, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas. Alice lived a life filled with love, blessings, and the favor of the Lord for years; she was finally called home to rest on June 2, 2025.
“A Time to Plant”
Alice was educated in the San Antonio Independent School District at Booker T. Washington Elementary, Emerson Junior High, and Fox Tech High School.
“A Time to Build”
Alice built her life’s work around others; no matter what the cause might be, she was always willing to give a helping hand or just a word of wisdom. Alice began her career in the medical field, working as a C.N.A., private duty caregiver, and in home healthcare. Throughout her life, she also embraced many other meaningful paths that reflected her creativity and passion for helping others, including working at Crest Heaven Children Center, and held roles as a Tupperware dealer, event coordinator, and home interior decorator, which she especially loved. “She could make something so unique out of nothing when she finished your home.” Alice made some of the best enchiladas. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and simply being around family and friends. She was a jovial soul and a unique person to be around. She will be missed by all who knew her.
“A Time to Love”
Alice Peterson was united in holy matrimony to her loving and most wonderful husband, Mr. Charles E. Peterson, on September 14, 1971. In this union, God blessed them with two loving children, “Denny and Teanitra (Toby).” Charles and Alice shared a love of fifty-two years of marriage.
“A Time to Reap”
Alice accepted Christ at an early age, when she was a little girl about three years old, and her great-grandmother would be singing in the church choir. They would be singing “Bringing in the Sheaves,” and she would be singing “Bringing in the Cheese.” Mrs. Peterson was a child of God; she never wanted to miss Sunday school worship. She loved to hear Pastor Paul Steven preach the word and his three nuggets. Alice worked in the church as a greeter, attended Bible study, and Sunday school.
“A Time to Celebrate”
Greeting her with open arms as she entered her heavenly home was her husband, Charles E. Peterson; fathers, Mr. Warner Eugene Reed Sr. and Mr. Curtis Freeman; stepmother, Mary Reed; brothers, Warner Eugene Reed Jr. and Curtis Reed; close cousin, Lorenza Freeman; best friend, Lula Montgomery.
Alice leaves to cherish her precious memories and celebrate her love and life: mother, Mrs. Elsie Mae Freeman; son, Denny (Denise) Peterson; daughter, Teanitra (Dave) Goffney; sisters, Lillie McGarity, Gloria Brown, Angelia (Marty) Gardner, and Bernice Freeman; sisters-in-law, Maedell (Peterson) Hardy, Ada M. Peterson; brothers-in-law, Jessie (Linda) Peterson Jr., Donald Peterson, and Shawn (Debra) Peterson; goddaughter, Michelle (Tim) Moody; seven grandchildren, Jalessa Peterson, Gabriell Kimble, Davante Goffney, I’munique Thornton, DaShunique Peterson, Denny Peterson Jr., and Deant’e Goffney; and seven great-grandchildren, Kylani, Imunique, Corneuslis, Kalaih, Kamarian, Jamarion, and Na’Vi.
She also leaves behind two loving friends, Kim Green and Helen Wilson; five aunts, Jewel Barnett, Marion Jackson, Patricia Gammage, Linda Gammage (California), and Norma J. Britton (San Antonio); one uncle, Lloyd Gammage; and a loving family.
Bless each of you in a very special way.
