Alonzia "Sonnie" W. Hardin Sr.

ALONZIA WILBURN HARDIN, SR. was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 31, 1948, to Mable Lucille Hardin. His biological father was Alonzia Willis. Most people knew him as Alonzio; however, Alonzia was the correct spelling on his birth certificate. He was affectionately known as “Sonnie” and was held in high regard by both his family and numerous friends.

His education included attendance at Grant Elementary, Dunbar Junior High and graduation from Phillis Wheatley High School in the class of 1967. Drafted into the United States Army in 1968, he served his country for two years. Afterward he and his childhood sweetheart Carol married, and they had two beautiful children, Alonzia, Jr., and Shauna Hardin. Sonnie also had another son later in life, Arsenio Hardin. His mother raised him in the church and made sure he attended St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnson.

He worked at Turbine Support for many years until it closed. He can now rest with lifelong special friends that have already gone home, Raynor Harvey, Donnie Davis and Jimmie Haynes. He loved going to “the country” to be with friends.

Preceding him in death were his precious mother, Mabel Lucille Hardin; father, Alonzia Willis Sr.; sisters, Willie Marie Kemper and Hazel Lomax; brother, Monroe Hardin; nephews, Frank Kemper and Jimmie Cole and niece, Mary Kay Kemper.

He leaves to mourn son, Alonzia, Jr. (Ann Marie) of Adkins, Tx; daughter, Shauna Felise Hardin of San Antonio, Tx; son Arsenio Hardin of San Antonio, Tx ; grandchildren, Zo’s children, Amber Alonzia Hardin and Corie Hardin (Sarah); Shauna’s children – Aaliyah Symone Crawford and Aalauna Symone Huffman; Arsenio’s child Arsenio Hardin; great grandchildren, Amber’s children -Camie Lee London, IV, Dorian Anton Best, II and Aniyah Alonzia Best; Corie’s children – Lila Kay Dennis, Imani June Hardin & Kora Kali Hardin; sister, Katie Cole; brother, Fred Hardin (Patricia); Caregiver, Rachel Hammond, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
