June 19, 1959 ~ August 23, 2010
Barbara Gean Black was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 19, 1959 to Amous Gean Black and Dorothy Lois Yarbrough Black. On August 23, 2010 the Lord called her home.
She lived most of her life in San Antonio, Texas and attended Sam Houston High School. After graduation she attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas and St Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. She gave her life to Christ in March of 2010 while attending New Creation Christian Fellowship Church.
Barbara was employed as a Quality Assurance Trainer for Alliance Data Corporation. She enjoyed her job and the people with whom she worked, creating many special relationships among her co-workers.
Barbara was a world traveler, who visited many countries including a special trip to her favorite city, Paris, France. She had a great sense of adventure and loved to spend time in the small towns around San Antonio, browsing through the shops, nibbling on chocolates, touring botanical gardens and relaxing at a local Bed and Breakfast. Her strong will and determination was a blessing and an inspiration to all.
Barbara has joined her mother Dorothy and they are resting in Christ. She leaves to cherish her memory; her father, Amous G. Black of San Antonio, TX; sister, Sabrina A. Black of Alexandria, VA, sister and brother-in-law, Jacy and Wayne Mautz of Colorado Springs, CO; her grandmothers, uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the MeadowLawn Tribute Center with burial following at MeadowLawn Memorial Park.

Uncle Amous, I have just heard of the passing of my cousin and wanted to share my condolences with you and your family. This is Elvois’ daughter and I wish that I would have known and I would have been there with the family as you all are my family too. Remember that in this time of need the one who you all need the most sits high and looks low. With Love Your Niece and Cousin, Jeanetta Black-Young
I had the pleasure of meeting meeting Mrs. Black, Sabrina,Barbara and Jacey many years ago at Lincolnshire Church of God and Christ. Barbara was always a quiet and kind spirited person.
