It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend, Benita G. Garcia, who departed this life on July 9, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on June 9, 1934, Benita lived a life defined by selflessness, quiet strength, and deep devotion to her family and faith. From her earliest days, she embraced the values of kindness, humility, and service. She accepted Christ at a young age and remained a devoted Catholic throughout her life, finding strength and peace in her unwavering faith.
She poured her heart into caring for her loved ones, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether through a warm meal, a freshly ironed shirt, a gentle word of encouragement, or simply her steady presence, she gave generously and lovingly without ever expecting anything in return.
Benita had a gift for making a house a home. She found joy in the simple things—tending to her plants, keeping her home spotless, and yes, indulging in the occasional lottery scratch-off ticket, which always brought a sparkle to her eyes and a chuckle to her loved ones.
She was a woman of quiet pleasures, strong faith, and unshakable love. Her nurturing spirit touched everyone who had the honor of knowing her. She was not only the heart of her family, but also a cherished friend to many, offering a listening ear, a comforting hug, or a shared laugh at just the right time.
Benita is preceded in death by both parents, as well as son Robert Castillo Jr. and siblings Maria Gonzales, Margarita Gonzales, Alma Macias, Ofelia Ortiz, Emma Williams, Olga Perez, Alejandro Gonzales, Santiago Sanchez, and Inez Gonzales. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of over thirty-five years, Larry Garcia, children Dolores Saldana (Able), Richard Castillo (JoAnn), Olga Castillo (Julio), and Patrick Castillo. She also leaves behind grandchildren Kathy, Able Jr., Richard W., Jake Ryan, Leslie, April, Jessica, Robert Joe, and Zoe, as well as twenty great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and devotion that will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing she is at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and resting in the arms of her Savior.
