Benny Othello Shanklin, Jr. was born on August 17, 1955 in San Antonio, TX to the late Benny Shanklin, Sr. and Eulalia Deese.
Benny attended Smith Elementary, Poe Middle School, and went on to graduate from Brackenridge High School in 1973. Shortly thereafter, Benny was united in marriage to Sherryl (Duke) Shanklin. Within this union, they had a son, Courtney Gerard Shanklin.
Benny was an outgoing, kind, and generous man. He was a likeable person and had a big heart. He always had compassion for others and put everyone elses needs before his.
Bennys job commitment and dedication began at the age of 17 for Southeast Baptist Hospital in food service. He then worked for Fairchild Aviation as a mechanic and then moved on to be happily employed at Pressure Systems Incorporated. After 22 years Benny retired on June 16, 2018 as a Customer Service Manager. He leaves to cherish his memories, a son Courtney Gerard Shanklin (Jennifer), two grandchildren Mariah Shanklin and Courtney Shanklin, Jr., sisters Renee Potter and Deborah Thomas (Lawless), nephew Terence Jackson (Mary Jane), niece Kristina Potter, great niece Zaria Potter and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
