Beverly J. Riley

Sunrise Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man." Genesis 2:22-23 Beverly Jean Riley came into this world on October 3, 1945, after the birth of her older brother William Lee Austin (November 25, 1943) in the small East Texas town of Nacogdoches to Clarence Lee and Ernestine Austin. Following the birth of her brother, John Henry (9 July 1947), the family moved to San Antonio, Texas, where they settled and made their familial home. Beverly helped to raise the five other siblings that followed: Amelia Mae, Linda Joyce, Gretchen Ann, Joy Lorraine, and Arthur Cal. Beverly matriculated through the San Antonio school district system during the time when schools became integrated. She took advantage of this brave new world and graduated with her high school diploma from G. W. Brackenridge High School. After completing her secondary education, Beverly diligently worked to complete her cosmetology license and even studied to be a Nurse's Aide for a time. Matrimony and Care-giving He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD Proverbs 18:22 After dating for more than ten years, Beverly became engaged to her first true love, Don Edwin, in March, 1968. Waiting patiently for his safe return from the Vietnam War, they engaged in holy matrimony on June 27, 1970. Three years later, she gave birth to her one and only "child," Daniel Eugene. Throughout her adult life she served as a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church in many capacities: Junior Mission, Usher Board, and as a Deaconess. Throughout her professional life, she served in a myriad of occupations from San Antonio Independent School District (ISD) Cafeteria Personnel, to VIA Metropolitan Daycare and on to a worker as a General Assembler at the Lighthouse for the Blind. However, her main occupation has always been primary care-giver; she sacrificed her time to give loving care to her mother and older brother for a period comprising a total of fifteen years. Matthew 11:28-30 Preceded in death by her father Mr. Clarence Lee Austin, older brother William Lee, younger sister Joy Lorraine (Allen), and mother Mrs. Ernestine Austin, on December 11, 2011, Beverly went home to be with the Lord. Beverly leaves in God's care her loving husband Don, and son Daniel. She also leaves a loving family including two brothers, John Henry (wife: Marie) and Arthur (wife: Deborah), three sisters: Amelia, Gretchen, and Linda; one dear sister-daughter-friend in Stephanie Morris (spouse Pastor E.J. Morris).
