July 29, 1967 ~ December 12, 2025

Born in: Cleveland, Ohio
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Charisse Andrea Wilson, born July 29, 1967, in Cleveland, Ohio, was a woman full of life, faith, and unwavering love for God and her family. Born the daughter of Cheryl Lynn Wilson and Jerome Goldsby, her life reflected strength, compassion, joy, and purpose.

From a very early age, Charisse was adoringly raised by her maternal grandmother, Emma Wilson. Receiving her elementary education from Cleveland’s public schools, Charisse moved with her family to San Antonio, Texas in 1979. At the age of twelve, Charisse was lovingly welcomed into the home of her uncle and aunt, Cleveland “Skip” Wilson and Valerie “Auntie Val” Wilson, who raised her as their own alongside their daughters, Tiffanie and Brittanie, and nieces Malika and Aliyah, which established a sisterhood rooted in love and family that endured for a lifetime.

Charisse was raised in a strong foundation of faith. In her early years she attended the family church with her grandmother Emma Wilson at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. E. Thurman Walker and the current pastorate of Dr. Kenneth Kemp. She later worshiped at Childress Memorial Church of God in Christ under Bishop T. D. Iglehart. Her love for God was evident throughout her life and guided every season she walked through.

Charisse graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1985, and then moved back to Cleveland, Ohio, to be with her mother. There, she worked as a flight attendant before launching a long and successful career in Human Resource Management, where she was respected for her professionalism, dedication, and heart for people. Obtaining many certifications and professional degrees, Charisse was a well-educated, experienced professional and was recognized as leader in the HR industry.

She joined Olivet Institutional Baptist Church and was very active in several ministries and community service projects. Beyond her professional and community leadership, Charisse embraced life with passion. She developed a love for cooking and baking and launched her own successful catering company, becoming especially known for her signature lasagna and peach cobbler. She was an avid bowler, often bowling a perfect 300 and earning recognition as one of the top female bowlers across regional leagues. Committed to health and discipline, she worked out daily—whether in the gym or walking and running miles at a time. Charisse also loved playing cards and games, especially with family, and was a devoted sports fan with a special love for basketball and anything connected to Ohio State.

After her mother’s passing, Charisse immediately returned to San Antonio right back with her aunt, uncle, and sisters. During this time, she joined Tree Mount Temple Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry J. Thompson and joyfully reunited with her Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family. Recently she established her church home at Praise Cathedral Church of God in Christ (formerly Childress Memorial), under the pastorate of Bishop Shelton C. Rhodes, whom Charisse deeply admired and often proudly spoke of with much love and gratitude.

Always possessing a heart for community and sisterhood, Charisse founded the San Antonio Black Sisterhood 45+ (SABS), an online sisterhood created to uplift, connect, and support women ages 45 and older. What began as a vision grew into a powerful community of 975 women who gather throughout San Antonio for fellowship, activities, events, and mutual support through life’s seasons. Charisse and the SABS developed many community initiatives such as clothing drives, coat and sock giveaways, food pantries, hygiene packages for the battered women’s shelter and so many other life-changing efforts. SABS celebrated its third anniversary on March 15, 2025—a milestone Charisse cherished deeply.

Seven days later, on March 22, 2025, Charisse suffered a massive stroke that significantly altered her health and mobility. Through it all, she remained surrounded by love, faith, family, friends, and a host of divine caregivers. God called Charisse home—healed and whole—on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:32 a.m., with her family praying and singing by her side.

Charisse was preceded in death by her mother, Cheryl L. Wilson; her maternal grandmother, Emma L. Wilson; and her paternal grandmother, Maxine Goldsby; and maternal uncle, Don Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Jerome Goldsby; her uncle, Cleveland “Skip” Wilson (Shirley); her aunt, Valerie J. Wilson; her sister-cousins, Tiffanie (Jarvis), Brittanie (Robert), Aliyah, and Malika (Jullian); her sister, Nicole Goldsby; her maternal aunt, Danita Wilson; cousins, Donovan Wilson, Cecelia Wagner (Tyler) and Emma Wilson; Goddaughter, Charliah Morgan; a host of beloved nieces and nephews; a large extended family, community sisters, church family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Charisse will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, vibrant strength, generous service, and boundless love. Her legacy lives on in her family, her sisterhood, and all who were blessed to know her.

  1. My sister/friend. It’s still hard to believe that you’re gone. So glad that we reconnected at the beginning of this year. We were able to have many beautiful conversations about our future.

I miss you already and I hate I won’t get to hear your voice again. Rest in peace, my dear.
