CLARA FLORENCE (JONES) JONES

Clara was born in Pryor, Oklahoma. She grew up in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and attended Saint Scholastica Catholic school. She moved to San Antonio where she worked for the American Red Cross at Brooke General Hospital during the Korean War. In San Antonio she met her future husband, Robert William Jones Jr. They were married at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on August 5, 1951.
Clara was preceded in death by her beloved parents William Bailey and Emma Jones, as well as her sister Barbara (and husband William Walker) and her brother in-law George Jones.
Clara is survived by Robert, her adoring husband and partner of 65 years; sons, Robert William III, Matthew Bailey, Andrew Brent (Madelyn) and grandchildren Michael Alexander Jones and Ariel Elise Jones; family members Roy and Peggy Jones; Nancy and Charles Cheever; Sara Jones; sisters Mary Lou (Richard, deceased) Welch; Martha (Ed) Fields, Sue (Hague, deceased) Ellis, many nephews and nieces, as well as neighborhood friends and the members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Clara was past Secretary-Treasurer of Greater Texas Realty Corporation.
Clara was a very avid reader, a San Antonio Library patron and was very active in Jackson Keller Elementary School where she served as PTA president. Clara organized "Story Tellers", a long-running program for young women to learn to read out loud to young children, encouraging their public speaking skills and self-confidence. Clara served as an election official for over 35 years, rising to the position of election judge. She was also active in the Castle Hills Women's Club, various charities and other programs in St Paul's Episcopal Church. All of you are invited to join us for a Requiem Mass at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1018 E Grayson Street on Saturday October 8th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.

Clara was a very special lady and will be missed by her family and many friends. I know her last year was difficult and am comforted that she is now in a better place.
