Clarence McHenry, Sr. was born April 27, 1921 to Tex McHenry, Sr. and Alberta Taylor in Itasca, TX. To this union there were nine children. He attended school in Hill County. Preceded in death are his parents and seven siblings.
Clarence married Mable Barton in 1944 in Venus, TX. To the union, Clarence, Jr. and Robbie Mae were born. He joined the US Military at the age of 25. His military occupation was Fire Fighter 383 receiving Rifle Sharpshooter qualifications. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and begin working as a Parking Attendant, then as CDL driver for Dixie Petroleum. He then secured a career with Door Unit Manufacturing where he worked as an expert carpenter/construction for 30 years (their marriage divorced during this time). He was promoted to Superintendent at Universal Products, retiring in 2001 after 20 years.
Clarence married Zelder Ophelia Lamkin on January 21, 1961. They shared a loving life until her death in 2002. To this union were born two sons, Clayton and Clinton who both preceded him in death.
Clarence had some wonderful passions in life. He enjoy playing Baseball and going to league games. He enjoyed raising greyhounds from puppies; he would sell to train for racing. With some of his hounds, he would love to hunt rabbits and deer. He even hunted rattle snakes and would capture and sell - awesome! He had a special dog he loved named Smokey he called the State Trooper. His ultimate passion was Fishing! Oh, how he loved fishing. His favorite fishing spot was Choke Canyon. Clarence owned over 50 state-of-the-art fishing poles with his favorite he named Gasper Red. And, an enormous amount of fishing equipment. Clarence was also an avid Domino Player; to compete with him, youd have to bring your best game! - He was serious about the domino game. He enjoyed his family and touched thousands of other lives with his passion for life; but said it was now time to be Gone Fishing.
He leaves to Celebrate his life his loving and devoted son, Larry McHenry (Nicole); son Clarence McHenry, Jr. (Marilyn), daughters Robbie McHenry-Thornton (Eric), and Ruth West (Clarence), son Rodney Myles (Lisa); special recognition to Amber McHenry who assisted Larry with caregiving; two step-daughters, Rosalind and Rhonda; Brother, Troy McHenry, daughter-in-laws, Selma, Diane and Demetria; Grandchildren: Larrita, Larrisa, LaCharles, Kai, Colton, Erica, Sparkle (Shaun), Tina, Crawford, Michael, Flint, Cilicia, Stephanie, Latoya, Clayton (Mayra), Amber, Brittany, Clayla, Rodney, Jr.; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and friends.

We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Clarence, as he was so affectionately known to us. To the McHenry and Dixon families, we pray God will give you comfort and peace during this most difficult time. Nobody could cook a brisket like Mr. Clarence!!!

Papa I miss you! I work near where you lived and regret not going by there to see you. Just shows that the next day is not promised. I know you’ve talked to Granny up there in Heaven. I still wish you were here, but you’re in a much better place now. Gone Fishin’ forever!
