On January 8, 2016, Clyde Ray Lampkin was called home by God, he left this earthly home surrounded by family. He will greatly missed and will forever be in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Clyde Ray was born on September 7, 1950 to the late Albert Lampkin, Sr. and Delilah Lampkin in Gonzalez, Texas. He was the youngest of ten children. Clyde attended school in Gonzalez, and later moved to San Antonio, Texas where he graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in the early 1970's and served his country during the Vietnam war. Upon returning from the war, he was employed at Brooks Air Force Base as an animal caretaker. He had to leave his job due to illnesses related to his tenure in Vietnam. Clyde was introduced to Christ at an early age and joined St. Peter's Baptist Church. He was a very kind man who always thought of others first and never asked for much for himself. Although he never had children his nieces and nephews were his children. He was a very dedicated family man. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Delilah Lampkin, Sr. and his brother Curlee Lampkin. His memory will be forever cherished by his children by choice, Fred Lampkin, Jr.(Janea) and Michelle Lampkin; sisters, Frances M. Lee, Alberta Rodgers and Della Brooks all of San Antonio, Texas; brothers, Edward Lampkin (Robbie)of Austin Texas, Albert Lampkin, Jr. (Dessia) of San Antonio, and Fred Lampkin, Sr. (Ima Jean) of San Antonio, Texas. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
