Daniece Elaine McVea Campbell

daniece mcvea campbell
Daniece Elaine McVea Campbell transitioned from this physical world to be with The Heavenly Father in Everlasting Glory. She was blessed to have died peacefully, asleep in her beautiful home. Daniece was born in San Antonio, TX to Alvin P. McVea and Audrey Jean Henry McVea. She was preceded in death by both aforementioned parents and her husband Ernest Campbell. Daniece was a founding member of Agape Outreach International Church where she was a cornerstone in every sense of the word. She performed numerous duties for her Pastor and friend, Bishop Nanette Ashford, including work with the Music Ministry. Her walk with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ began at a very early age. She started her Christian Journey as a Catholic where she learned to study God’s Word in the original Latin translations. As time passed, Daniece studied under several Protestant Pastors and developed into an Evangelical Ambassador for Christ. Her vast knowledge of the Bible enabled her to fulfill the Grand Commission articulately and accurately. She came by this zest and zeal for the Lord naturally as her dad and his mother, Ruth McVea, were life-long members of Emmanuel AME Church San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, her mother, Audrey, and her parents, Samuel and Rachel Henry, were founding members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church San Antonio, Texas. It is evident to all, that Daniece was fully immersed in a God-fearing, Bible studying environment from day one. Daniece’s primary education was attained at Holy Redeemer School where she graduated circa 1964. She advanced to Frederick Douglass and then to Phyllis Wheatley schools of the SAISD. While at Wheatley, she became a featured twirler. She finished her High School Education in the Chicago, Illinois as her uncle, Charles B. Henry, provided her the opportunity to be educated in the North. While in the Windy City, she also held an after-school job as a receptionist for one of the neighborhood churches and played the organ for them as well. She returned to San Antonio for Business and Technical Training once her high school days were over. Her diverse education laid the groundwork for her future success in business. Her greatest accomplishment was playing the piano. Although formal training on this instrument was somewhat limited, she started playing the piano as soon as she could walk. Of course, it helps to have an accomplished and well-known organist as your mother, who personally tutored and mentored her. But Daniece not only had the natural talent, she put in the hard work practicing, honing her skills on a daily basis with gusto and determination. It comes as no surprise that Gospel and Jazz dominated her repertoire as she was raised in the Church. Daniece had numerous other interests as well. She was athletic and loved to swim and ride bikes with her big sister Deborah (McVea Chandler). Her dad, Alvin, was a certified auto mechanic who imparted quite a bit of mechanical skill to his daughters. Daniece knew more about cars than most of the local boys, but she did not like the grease and dirt. She was not a Tomboy. She was a girlie girl if there ever was one. Once she got old enough, Deborah taught her the art of driving a manual shift car – fast. Daniece learned to shift the gears smoothly while double clutching as needed. She was known to have a little bit of a lead foot, but she realized that her cars were a gift from God and were not to be abused. She diligently maintained her vehicles to the same high standards that she applied to her home. She always received complements on her cars, especially her favorite one, a hopped-up VW Beetle. Daniece grew into a gregarious, beautiful, and talented young lady. Her smile was big, and her voice was soft yet forceful. She was a commanding presence who demanded and got respect all her life. Her career began in the fast food industry where she moved up the ladder quickly. Before long, she was offered the manager’s position at a convenience store. She had a succession of jobs over her life including a stint with Coca Cola and eventually HEB, where she was employed at the time of her death. HEB was especially proud of her work and honored her with a national award. She was also known for her smooth and professional PA speaking voice. Store patrons loved her announcements over the system. Daniece knew how to handle a mic. Ultimately, her passion was her Church and studying the Bible. She kept the Word in her heart and shared it through music and preaching the Gospel. The Lord blessed her with many talents, physical beauty, and an outgoing personality. And she blessed the Lord with Prayer and Worship. Daniece is survived by siblings Alvin B. McVea (Shirley Walls McVea), Deborah McVea Chandler, Garry McVea, Ronald McVea (Jannifer Hickerson McVea), Pamela McVea Lott, Wyatt McVea (Allisa Perkins McVea), Rachel McVea Taylor, Anthony McVea, Thomas McVea and Lisa McVea Ross, nieces, nephews, beloved family, and devoted friends. *In Lieu of Flowers Please Make Charitable Contributions to: Agape Outreach International Church 150 Ridge Dr. San Antonio, TX 78228 Givelify Donations: https://giv.li/zpfw53
