Dennis Roy Cornett

dennis cornett
Dennis Roy Cornett left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2012. He was born on March 27, 1947 at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD, to Rupert Samuel Cornett and Helen Marie (Lukasiak) Cornett. He was 64. Dennis was raised outside of Washington DC in a small Maryland town on the Potomac River called Indian Head. He loved to have fun. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sunning by the pool, reading one of his favorite novels. Dennis' favorite food was Maryland steamed crabs. If he and his family weren't eating them at Robertson's Crab House, or buying a bushel of live crabs and steaming them at home, then Dennis was going crabbing with his Dad and brother Ronnie, taking their catch home to cook. Dennis also loved cream puffsnobody could make them like his Mom. His sister tried making them for him this past Christmas. He was happy and said she did a pretty good job for the first time. Good news he did eat them all. He said "practice will make them perfect and they will be as good as Mom's one day." He loved the ocean and spending time down at Port Aransas and Rockport, TX, enjoying the seafood restaurants, swimming and going fishing with his fianc Kyong No, who he loved very much, as well as her daughter Jung Hee Mung. Dennis and Kyong also enjoyed going hiking, taking long walks in their neighborhood and watching movies. He also loved family events. He grew up loving sports, playing basketball and football in high school He was also a diehard fan of the Washington Redskins, even after he moved to Texas. He could never bring himself to be a Dallas Cowboy fan never! Dennis worked 37 years with the government. He worked at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, MD, and then for the Navy at Huntington Beach, CA. Later he moved to San Antonio, TX, to be near his sister, and was hired at Ft. Sam Houston as a Computer Specialist with USAMITC. Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, Ronnie S. Cornett. He is survived by his sister Dee Miller and husband Don Bundick of Seguin, TX; his fianc Kyong No and her daughter Jung Hee Mung; Niece, Debbie Thompson, husband Roger, great niece Jenna and great nephew Alex from McKinney, TX; Nephews, Jimmy Miller, wife Jenny, great niece Jamie and great nephew Jacob from Universal City, TX; Ron Cornett, wife Teri, and great nieces Cyan and Jade from Tucson, AZ; and Chris Cornett from Tucson, AZ; as well as many close cousins and friends. Dennis loved life. He was looking forward to getting married to his fianc Kyong No. She was his rock! She loved him more than words can say. He always called her his "Babydoll." We will all miss him very much. His family loved him a lot. His nephews and nieces thought he was the "cool" Uncle His request for his final resting place is to have his ashes scattered on the beach at Port Aransas, Texas, at a later date. "Take him in Your arms Lord, Guide him through the storm, Sit with him in sunshine, and let the wind be warm, Play his favorite music And when you see him smile, Tell him that we love him, and he's thought of all the while"
