Derek Josiah Riojas Montoya was born November 25, 2012 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He is the son of Aida Aracely Riojas and Santiago Montoya.
Derek came to live in San Antonio when he was ten months old.
Though he had a short life, it was filled with lots of loving care and family appreciation. Derek also had lots of personality and could make his wishes and dislikes known with his various noises. One day he grunted real loud at his nurse and another nurse in the room told him he was using bad language. That was one way that he added joy to your day.
He made his heavenly journey on March 27, 2015 in the loving arms of his family.
He leaves a loving family, mother, father, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and the staff of nurses, providers and therapists who helped care for him in the Peaches Home. He touched the lives of all the medical personnel in the University Health system who took great care of him during his earthly journey.
