Edward Zapata was called to Heaven on Sunday, June 7, 2015. Edward was born on October 13, 1946 to Gilbert and Vicenta Zapata in San Antonio, Texas. He was a caring, loving father and devoted husband. He enjoyed fishing and going to Casinos. He always made an effort to help people in need. Edward Zapata retired from the San Antonio Police Department and the South West Independent School District Police Department. He served one tour in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. Edward is survived by three children, Sgt. Maj. Edward Zapata, Jr. USMC and wife Cyndy, Christina Morris and husband William and Anthony Zapata; brother, Gilbert Zapata and wife Gloria; sisters, Alice Ayala and husband Eddie, Elida Holt and Lydia Rodriguez; 14 grandchildren; nephews; nieces and numerous other relatives and friends.
