Our mother, Elvira H. Berlanga, born in San Antonio, TX on March 11, 1929 to William P. and Elvira A. Hernandez joined our Lord on July 17, 2014 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 6 days. She joins her parents, her husband, Louis C. Berlanga, brothers William, Rudy, Antonio, Edward and Mike Hernandez and her sister, Hortence H. Hernandez. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Marie A. and husband John B. Smith, Annette Gohmert, Dennette and husband Jerry Young, Suzette Berlanga and Abelina and husband Miquel Murillo, Sr. Her grandchildren, Afton Marie and Savannah Tamara Smith; Tonya and husband Roger Benavides III, Louie Lopez, Katie Berlanga; Mike Jr, Miranda and Frank Murillo. Her great grandchildren, Roger IV, Remy, and Tiana Sophia Benavides, Aniyah and Mariah Lopez, and Javin Tye Berlanga. Her sisters, Ora H. Rutherford and Mary Ann Alvarado. Her brother, Tony G. and wife Cathy Hernandez. Her sisters-in-law, Mary Hernandez (Saginaw, MI), Janie Hernandez (Covert, MI), Antonia Hernandez (Houston, TX) and Angie Berlanga. Numerous nieces nephews and many friends. Mom lived a good long life always doing things her way. Special thanks to the Pallbearers, Skip Rutherford, Jorge Esparza, Luis Quintero, Jr, Troy Siedel, Pascual Zapata and Nick Juarez. Also a special thanks to her beloved doctor, Dr. Lovelesh (The Babe) Manocha, his staff, and the SICU staff at Baptist Hospital. Services: Rosary, Tuesday, July 22 at 7:00 pm at MeadowLawn Funeral Home.

  1. I will always remember her tell-it-like-it is attitude. If she loved you and cared for you, it meant you were truly special to her. If she really liked you, she told you to call her mom. I am proud to say, she liked me. Have a safe trip to Heaven, mom. Please give Mandy my love and a great big kiss.
