I haven’t seen Ernie in quite some time but I want to offer the family members my sincere condolences for their loss.
I’m so sorry to hear that Ernie passed away. He was such a sweetie. I hadn’t seen him for quite a while and, I’m sorry to say, didn’t realize that he was ill. I’m keeping Ernie, Hailey and the rest of Ernie’s family in my prayers.
Here is a High Salute to a fellow, who, from the seventh grade to the twelfth, joined forces with me and ran across the football field at all the Robert E. Lee High School Football Games. From 1960-1965, six years in Spirit Support of the Team. We were the First and Only: True Flag Runners of Lee. Thru thick and thin we carried the Confederate Battle Flags to the constant cheers and applause of all: Adult & Fellow Students. Sometimes I found Him working hard to keep up but Ernie always followed through. May You always be remembered by you Classmates. Your fellow Flag Runner, Hardy C. Lewis Peace in Spirit, my Friend.
I also went to Lee High School with Ernie. Through reunions and get-togethers, we’ve communicated over the years, and especially this past year because of our 50th Reunion in March. I was anxious to call him and tell him all about it, then Hardy told me he had passed away. He was a great guy, and will be missed terribly by me and his Lee classmates. Sincere condolences to his children and family.

I was so sorry to hear about Ernie\’s passing. I am recovering from a stroke and found out afterwards. He was a great friend and such a wonderful man. I was proud to call him my friend and loved him so much. My children, Daphne & Nicholas, felt the same as he showed up for so many of their life events. I was so fortunate to have him as my friend.
Love to you, Hayley, your Dad thought you hung the moon and I loved having you around when you were little. God Bless all his family.
