April 2, 1918 ~ April 11, 2011
Evelyn Etoyl (Brumley) Hector passed into the Gates of Heaven on April 11, at the age of 93. She was born on April 2, 1918 in Edin- burg, Tx. to O.S. Brumley and Sybil, (Montgomery) Brumley. She lived a full and wonderful life in which she was active in every way. She was raised in a wonderful family of 8 siblings in Dripping Springs where she excelled in all sports. She was a star pitcher in semi-pro fast pitch baseball for the Austin Grand Prize championship team of the late 30's. She also bowled and held the Texas Women's Doubles record for many years. As an artist, hundreds of her colorful wall-hangings may be found throughout Texas. Evelyn relished her friendship with so many people, she loved everyone. She was also a licensed beautician and operated in Austin and later San Antonio. Evelyn was the most loving and gracious mom to all of the family and she enjoyed her Brumley family reunions greatly. Preceding her in death were her husband of 49 years, Norman T. (Jack) Hector; both her parents; all but 1 sibling; and a son, James Thomas Kennedy. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Bennett; daughter, Norma (and Robert) Matlock; son, Jack T. (and Janet) Hector; grandchildren, Tommy and Dave Hector, and Jay Becker. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm On Wednesday, April 13th at Castle Hills Christian Church, 6209 West Ave. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 14th at Castle Hills Christian Church with Dr. Ed Skidmore officiating. Guestbook
Jack,Janet, Norma and family Your mom and grandmother was a very special person to me when Jack and I were growing up. Even though Jack and I were probably a great source of aggrevation to her with all of our different “adventures” in our childhood, she never seemed to lose patience with us. She was a loving person whom I never saw loose her temper and I am sure she exhibted this love and patience to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by myself and my family. Always a friend, Jerry .
