Felicitas Ortiz Martínez

November 20, 1942 ~ March 2, 2024

Our beloved Mami, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend, Felicitas Ortiz Martínez, went to be with our Lord on March 2, 2024 at the age of 81. She was born on November 20, 1942 to parents: Benito Ortiz and Romana Magaña Ortiz in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.

Felicitas shared beautiful memories she had growing up on a ranch with her parents and siblings. Unfortunately, she lost her parents at a very young age. This huge loss molded her into the wife, mother, grandmother and friend we came to know her as. She navigated life through many ups and downs on her own, but found her support from her sisters, brothers and her cousins. She eventually met Francisco and wed him on October 14, 1972. They were married for 49 years until his passing in 2021.

Felicitas was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and servant of the Lord. Her love for the Lord was grand and when given the chance, she would share her testimonies about God to anyone and everyone. Her goal was to reach as many people as possible and let them know how amazing our God is. Her love for God was as immense as the love for her family. She showed her love through her daily prayers, her cooking, her advice, and her constant presence in our lives. She had a very generous and giving heart, always wanting to help others in any way she could. She adored her grandchildren and was very proud of every achievement and milestone they accomplished. Her unwavering faith taught us to leave everything in God’s hands. She enjoyed working in the yard and bird watching. We lovingly called her “Snow White,” as she was often surrounded by birds in the backyard. She was also the biggest Spurs fan and never missed a game on tv. All the opposing teams were known as “malosos” when playing the Spurs.

Her absence has left a huge void in our hearts. We will miss her love, her prayers, infectious laugh and her words of wisdom. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We will affectionately remember her as: our Felicitas, Feliz, Mami, Ma and Buela.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Francisco Lorenzo Martínez, her parents Benito and Romana, her brother: Cruz Ortiz and sister Magdalena Ortiz Mireles. She is survived by her loving children: Maria Dolores Martínez Manzanarez (Humberto), Francisco José Martínez aka El Consentido (Valerie), and Raquel Martínez Stewart (Jerome); seven grandchildren: Marissa, Joshua, Eliana, Elijah, Natalia, Josiah, Jerome “Lorenzo”; her sister: Josefa (Pepa) Ortiz Carrillo (Patricio) and her brother: Armando Perez (Delia), numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and a host of close relatives and friends.
